THE TORONTO INTERNATIONAL MUSIC VIDEO FESTIVAL RETURNS FOR A THIRD YEAR

A three day film festival, featuring filmmakers, musicians,
and artists from around the world.

The Toronto International Music Video Festival (TIMVF) and its team are pleased to announce their return for the third annual edition of the event. Dedicated to celebrating the art of music video filmmaking, the festival offers free educational panels and fosters valuable networking opportunities through a range of engaging events, including the opening night celebration, an art gallery and live concert (Nov. 7), and the official after party (Nov. 8).

Now in its third year, TIMVF continues to bring filmmakers and artists together from around the world, with submissions representing over fifty countries and nearly every continent — they’re still waiting for the elusive
submission from Antarctica. This year, the festival has expanded its award categories to include Best Student Music Video, Best Choreography, and Best Canadian Music Video.

“The board of directors, much of our team, and I all started our careers in music videos. We’ve always felt that the medium is underappreciated and lacks the recognition it truly deserves. Our hope is that the Toronto International Music Video Festival can shine a spotlight on an industry that’s so integral to both film makers and musicians.” — Mac Downey, Festival Director

The three-day festival kicks off on Friday, November 7 at 6:30 PM with the Art Gallery and Concert at The Rec Room (255 Bremner Blvd, Toronto, ON M5V 3M9). The concert will feature performances by memyself&vi, Melo Griffith, and QUIETLOVE, and will be hosted by Unsighted.

On Saturday, November 8, the showcases and panels will begin at
The Paradise Theatre (1006C Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M6H 1M2). The
day opens with the Micro-Budget Showcase, followed by Building
From the Ground Up, an industry roundtable featuring Fatty Soprano,
Jalal Kazemi, Lil Man Purse, and That Good Graphic. The discussion
will highlight some of the city’s leading filmmakers, how they forged
their own paths in the industry, rising from DIY, micro-budget
beginnings, to helming high-concept music videos seen around
the world. The program continues with the It’s All Gonna Break
screening, a documentary on the Toronto band Broken Social Scene.
Following that, there’s the Canadian Showcase and the International
Showcase. The evening will conclude with an After Party at Teddy
Beer (928 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M6H 1L4).

The final day, Sunday, November 9, returns to The Paradise
Theatre, beginning at 12:00 PM with the panel Through the Eyes: A
Conversation With Jorden Lee & GOVI. Together, they’ll offer a behindthe-
scenes look at how a director–artist partnership can evolve
from simply making things “look cool” to building a distinct and
meaningful visual world. The program continues with Nominated
Showcase Vol. 1 & 2, and concludes with the 2025 TIMVF Awards
Show, where winners across all 17 categories will be announced.

“T
IMVF prides itself on being an anti-gatekeeping event. Music videos are a beloved art form that allow filmmakers of all backgrounds to showcase their creativity and ingenuity. We hope TIMVF can help break down the industry barriers for emerging and talented creatives.” — Mac Downey, Festival Director
