Introducing Creators Only - A Place For Toronto Creators To Give Game And Learn From One Another
Whenever people think of the Toronto music and creative scenes, they tend to think of the aspect of the ‘Screwface Capital’, a nickname that explains how local Toronto artists got treated by the general public when they were on the rise and had to branch out to other areas to receive the love they never received here.
From the lack of resources and unity among people to internal and external conflicts among artists, many people tend to question why Toronto’s music and creative scenes never reached the full peak that they should have since the early to mid-2010s. But what if I were to tell you that some platforms and resources that are making the change to bring Toronto creators together and share and allocate resources for them to grow and make an impact.
One of the major Toronto media platforms, Toronto Rapstars, initiated an event called Creators Only, which is an event for people within the Toronto music and entertainment industries to connect, network, and provide game and resources to grow the current rising scene while enjoying what there was to offer like food, music, and good vibes.
People from all walks of life (e.g., artists, videographers, photographers, and producers) came by to share more about themselves within others and to allocate resources needed while networking and speaking more on their thoughts within their respective scenes. From people eating pizza to public interviews happening, many faces were in the building to connect and show love to one another.
The event continued with a panel featuring many notable figures of the Toronto music and entertainment scene such as Mississauga rapper and artist N.R.M.N, Toronto music executive 701 Maxx, Toronto singer-songwriter and artist Kibra, and the CEO of Beatcave, Jerome. The panel had many discussions about the Toronto music and entertainment scenes, such as having access to performances and artists grants, how to gain audiences, having music showcased on different mediums like television and film, and much more. The panel then followed up with questions by the audience along with providing final words to end off the event.
