TLOY PRESENTS: The Isa Franchitto Interview
Brazilian artist Isa Franchitto is back and better than ever as she’s recently returned after taking some time off musically to focus on life and such. After doing various covers of songs from artists like Tate McRae, Halsey, and Billie Eilish, she gained a buzz within the Soundcloud scene through her releases and is set to release her original music this year. We spoke with Isa again to catch up on what she’s been doing lately, songwriting, TikTok, and much more in this Q&A interview.
Q: Since the last time we spoke, what has changed for you, in terms of your musical journey and such?
Isa: In the past, I took a break from my music career to focus on other things, one of the biggest being becoming a mom to my beautiful daughter, Stella, who is now 9 months old. During her time at daycare, I continue to write and release songs. What has really changed for me is my approach to writing and how I think about things now — motherhood has given me a fresh perspective, and it reflects in my music.
Q: What is your creative process when making music and what would a day in making music be like for you?
Isa: My creative process starts with focusing on a poem or rhyme, then drawing inspiration from recent life events. I try to blend it all together into something meaningful. Some days, the songwriting comes quickly — I grab my pen, and the words flow effortlessly, and before I know it, I’ve created a song. Other times, it can take hours or even days, as I’m a perfectionist and really take my time to make sure it’s just right.
Q: Have you ever taught anyone how to play an instrument or write songs?
Isa: When I was around seven, I had a lot of friends over, and they all wanted to play my piano. I enjoyed helping them learn a few notes or short songs. It was something I really liked, and it gave me a sense of joy to teach them.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?
Isa: The best advice I ever received from another artist was to never be afraid of expressing yourself through music or anything you love. It’s important to stay true to who you are. And always, always be kind.
Q: What’s your favorite part about being a singer-songwriter?
Isa: The best thing about being a songwriter is the ability to express myself through music without worrying about what others might think. It’s all about being authentic and true to my own voice.
Q: Do you write the lyrics first, or do you write the melody and lyrics simultaneously?
Isa: I try to get a melody then lyrics.
Q: What are some of the biggest challenges you face as a songwriter?
Isa: The biggest challenge as a songwriter was exposing myself and being vulnerable when I sing about personal experiences. At first, only I knew those stories, but then thousands of people hear them. I’m naturally a shy person, so sometimes I feel embarrassed or want to delete something right away. But I remind myself not to worry about others’ opinions and just keep going. I was a huge fan of AJ Michael and was lucky enough to become friends with his cousin. He told AJ about me, and now we sometimes talk. He even commented on one of my covers, “Keep doing your thing.”
Q: How do you handle songwriting blockages and stay motivated?
Isa: For sure it is my dream to be heard. I just want to make sure others knows they are not the only one feeling bad or something.
Q: What message or emotion do you hope to convey through your music?
Isa: Being who you are is enough! Stop comparing yourself though the girls at your Instagram, TikTok, or whatever. You are perfect the way God wanted for you to be. I love each one of you. Please stay true with your own damn self because nowdays the world is getting so bad. Please stay safe and sorround yourself with Love and positive things, ok?
Q: What do you hope to achieve through your songwriting, and how do you measure success?
Isa: I expect to achieve a lot a life and just express good things just like my idols “Juice World, XXXTENTACION”. I mean sure success if I made someone feel ok or at least good with themselves I made it, you got it? I made it. People just wants to be heard man, and no one listens to them.
Q: What do you hope your songs will have on your listeners?
Isa: I hope they can feel the emotion I tried so hard to be felt. Happiness and somewhere it can be good for them to come and stay. You feel me? I hope they can be happy listening.
Q: Do you feel that singles have more of a long-lasting impact than albums?
Isa: Not at all, I think an Album is more heard. An Album normally it was like a contest or a story behind and the music is like a continuation of a little short story.
Q: Do you think “find a way to make your music go viral on TikTok” is a fair/creative/effective marketing strategy proposal for artists to use or does it diminish one’s artistry?
Isa: It’s a funny and short story, when I started posting songs I had a friend that told me that if I post “#” my songs would get more views and likes, I did once to see if it was to work and it worked! So I never stopped at all hahaha. Yes Is a Strategy! Use it!
Q: Did you feel that you have grown as an artist from the start of your career until now?
Isa: Yes, I feel like I did in some sort of way .
Q: What would be some great advice that you would give to any aspiring people that want to follow in your footsteps?
Isa: Keep doing your thing! Don’t stop, and don’t be shy just go ahead and post you doing your ART, you are a artist my darling, so just go ahead and do it! I promise you will say “thanks izzy” someday hahaha
Q: How do you deal with your mental health as a person in your position? With everything going on in your life, have you ever felt at times it could be overwhelming?
Isa: I deal with staying away from what makes me feel a little depressed. I love to just get out of my house and do a lot of things and try to pass the time. It helps me not to be thinking on my problems or what Im “overwhelmed” with. Yeah I feel overwhelmed.
Q: Any closing remarks you would like to say?
Isa: Thank you so much for letting me be part of your amazing interview account, I’m very happy about it! Thank you very much! Success and happiness on your way always! God bless you all!
