Ayam JC Starts 2026 Off Right With The Bread Head EP

Buffalo, NY rapper and artist Ayam JC is a polarizing artist who’s been making waves since the late 2010s with various releases like B.T.O., JB Approved, & Late Nights Early Mornings. With his subtle yet flashy approach to his energy, cadences, and impeccable flows, he managed to not gain love in his hometown but in Toronto and the rest of upstate New York with co-signs from artists like Richlin Fharlo and Mauna Karuna.

Now the Buffalo artist has set the tone for creative opportunity with his latest EP release, Bread Head. Focusing on more of a drive to the riches and the aspect of wealth, the three-track EP brings a variety of classic and new sounds that fans and listeners can hear and enjoy. What stands out is the unique cover art with a loaf of bread with interesting facial features.

While the EP had a lot of decent highs, there were some lows that can be really understood depending on the style and approach. On Rich, the production and songwriting bring much metal-sounding synths with 808-rattling trap sound that develop the drive for Ayam to execute an addictive chorus with the motivating explanation of wanting wealth and to become rich. Although the adlibs seem layered with palatable verses, this song is definitely more for the vibes.

On Big Dough - Special Edition, it starts off with this underwater style of production and Ayam’s approach to his sound there feels similar to various rap contemporaries within the late 2010s like Chance the Rapper, Lil Yachty, and Rich the Kid. While the ad-libs didn’t pack a punch and felt transparent, the verses definitely carry the song with this addictive feel to listen along with the interesting layered production.

Ending the EP with I Like It, this happened to be a personal favourite of mine after listening, based on the melodic feel and style. While the production has more of an animatronic sound, Ayam JC gets more intimate and authentic with his thoughts and expressions as he brings  interesting flows and styles along with fast-paced verses and energies and incorporates an addictive chorus with a melodic feel
